Title—Customer Service Fit for Royalty

Founded
in 2007 by Charles Clawson II, Noble Title was created to
provide customers with an alternative to title companies that
treat clients as numbers and provide standardized service.
Noble Title prides itself in providing customized and superior
service to its clients. The payoff? Its clients are addicted
to the company’s services.
Charles began his career as
a certified public accountant (CPA) and later became a lawyer.
His life took an interesting turn when Commonwealth Title
Company approached him with an opportunity to open a new branch
in Nevada. He rose to the challenge, starting a successful
title company from scratch. Three years later, he decided
to use his Real Estate and financial experience to open his
own company—Noble Title Company.
“I’m the first
to admit that I was hesitant to take the leap, especially
in such a slow market,” says Charles. “The accountant
in me was well aware of all the risks involved in starting
my own business. My wife M’Recia really encouraged me
to do it anyway. She reminded me that I had already started
one title company in the area and reassured me that I would
have no problem starting my own.”

Charles’ children,
whom he refers to as his “four angels,” are also
major supporters of his business. His 15-year-old daughter
is a summer employee and his three sons help sporadically
when they need spending money. “All four have long-term
plans to go to college and become part of the family business,”
says Charles with pride.
Once Charles made the decision
to start his own business, he charged ahead full-force.
His
first step was to identify key employees and get them on board.
“My employees are the most important thing to me,”
he says. “I selected people who I knew would provide
extraordinary customer service for our clients. My vision
was to create a company that would be ‘the Ritz Carlton
of title companies.’ I know it is one thing to say we’re
the Ritz Carlton of title companies but another to actually
live up to the promise. I hand-selected each of my employees
because I know they trust and believe in this vision.”
Noble Title opened its
doors on May 1, 2007, to a larger-than-expected crowd. It
was a red-carpet affair with food, music and drinks. Charles
was thrilled with the response and feedback at the grand opening.
“The staff displayed immense pride on how luxuriously
our office showed, and our guests were impressed with the
office, location and hospitality of the employees. It was
a tremendous success.”
Charles’ customer-centric
vision is what sets his company apart from other companies.
Noble Title’s staff takes pride in providing their clients
with a closing experience that is unique. “We have a
saying around here: legendary service is just everyday business
for us,” he says. “We greet our clients by name,
provide a complementary menu of refreshments, and make sure
they are comfortable with what they are doing. And if our
clients need something extra, we do it. For example, one of
my officers recently flew her assistant to another state to
deliver documents to the lender to make sure the loan closed
on time.”
According to Charles, this
level of service is “addictive” to his clients.
“Our customer service involves warmth and luxury combined
with a commitment to do anything within legal bounds for our
customers,” he says. “They’re completely
blown away by our efforts and commitment. Once they use our
services, they won’t settle for less.”
Charles
continuously points out that an excellent staff is key to
the success of his business, and he makes every effort to
make his staff feel respected and valued. According to Laura
Sullivan, a former employee, Charles always goes above and
beyond the norm to make his clients and staff feel comfortable
and happy. She recalls a time when he asked her for an employee
referral recommendation. “I recommended a woman who
was in Italy at the time,” she says. “His response
was, ‘Do you have a passport?’ We flew to Italy
that week to interview her for the job. This is just one example
of how deeply he values his employees and their opinions.”
Because of his incredible
dedication to his staff, Charles has attracted the best and
brightest escrow officers to his company. One unique characteristic
of the company is the staff’s level of education; two
members are attorneys, several have bachelor’s degrees,
and a few have master’s degrees. “We have more
education than any other title company in the area,”
he says. “This benefits our customers tremendously.
When an issue arises, we have the education and experience
to resolve it quickly and effectively.”
To
encourage continuing education in the company, Charles sponsors
employees who attend external classes. He also teaches an
accredited class on foreclosures, and is a regular speaker
at various Real Estate events, where he discusses foreclosures,
distressed properties, escrows and more.
With Noble Title open
and thriving, Charles believes he has found the formula to
success. “I measure performance through customer satisfaction
and financial performance,” he says. “I have high
expectations of my staff and put no limitations on how they
reach these expectations. From the receptionist to the president,
I know my clients will receive the best customer service at
every stage of the transaction.”
