TRICIA BRISENDINE
Real Estate Exec: Century 21 JR Realty

A Passion for People

by: Rita Templeton

Tricia BrisendineTricia Brisendine loves what she does—but it isn’t the paycheck that keeps her focused, it’s the people.

Real Estate is much more than a profession to Tricia; for one thing, it’s somewhat of a family affair. Her sister-in-law is also in the business. Her grandmother, in Real Estate since 1965, still has her broker’s license today at almost 80 years old—though she has retired, she keeps it renewed out of love for her career. And like her grandma, it’s Tricia’s passion for the business that keeps her happy and successful. She sees it as much more than just a paycheck. “I would hate for people to think I was just doing it for the money,” she says. “It doesn’t even feel like a job. And the pay is just a bonus.”

It was the circumstances of Tricia’s life—with some prompting from her grandmother, naturally—that led her into the industry in early 2003. At that time, she was a stay-at-home mom to an infant daughter (who has since been joined by a little sister), and wanted a job that would provide her with the flexibility that full-time motherhood requires. With a degree in business and marketing from UNLV and a professional background in sales, she was well accustomed to working on commission and providing top-notch customer service, so Real Estate was a natural choice. Right away, she knew she’d found her calling. She had owned her first home at age 24, and she realized how much she enjoyed helping others achieve the same goal of home ownership.

Tricia also found pleasure in working so closely with people. “I love building new relationships,” she says, and as a REALTOR® with Century 21 JR Realty, she gets to do plenty of that. She has a genuine concern for her clients, and a strong and selfless desire to help them achieve their goals, which leads her to go above and beyond even if it means creating more work for herself. “I act as if each one is my own personal transaction,” she says. “I want to make sure they’ve had all their options presented to them, whether it takes three months or three days.” If an offer is out and a new listing pops up that Tricia thinks would be perfect for that particular client, she shows it to them “just in case.”

Fulfilling her clients’ wishes means really getting to know their unique needs and preferences, requiring a listening ear and a constantly open path of communication. “Sometimes we’re kind of like therapists,” she laughs. Tricia says she keeps herself completely accessible, even at odd times, and works seven days a week to accommodate her clients’ varying schedules.

Tricia BrisendineDue to this unfaltering dedication, her business is largely referral-based. “I don’t farm for clients,” Tricia says. She spends very little time and money on marketing her services, only because her previous clients keep recommending her to others. Keeping people satisfied is her No. 1 priority. “I don’t let the paycheck come first, I let the client come first. They remember the time and level of service that I provide,” she says. In turn, they show appreciation by recommending her to everyone they know, which translates into a strong circle of clientele for Tricia. “This is a career—it isn’t just a job,” she says, “and the only way to make it a career is to get a good client base going.

Tricia BrisendineTricia prides herself on keeping her clients fully informed during all phases of the home-buying process, making sure they understand exactly what each step entails. That means also keeping herself in the loop, which is why she is a strong advocate of continuing education—a commitment to bettering herself as a REALTOR® that she takes very seriously. Tricia has earned her ABR and GRI designations, is currently working toward her RRG, and attends seminars on a wide variety of topics, from marketing to foreclosures. “Learning what the industry is doing helps keep you ahead of the game,” Tricia says. She has also recently joined the Women’s Council of REALTORS® as a member of the marketing committee, and although she says she’s “just getting her feet wet,” Tricia looks forward to getting more involved and bringing more people into the organization, and garnering all the education she can by learning from other successful professionals in the industry

A wholehearted concern for her clients, a true devotion to her job, and an unwavering commitment to service are only a few of the things that make Tricia love her line of work. Aside from that, she also enjoys her profession for a much simpler reason: curiosity. “I love seeing floor plans, and how people decorate,” she admits. All things considered, she couldn’t have chosen a more fitting vocation—just ask her satisfied customers.
